The Central Uganda Conference (CUC) has among its strategic schemes a fund named “Operation Unity”. This fund is intended to offer opportunity to brethren to pool resources purposed at collectively undertaking major projects. The CUC’s major objective is to win souls for Jesus Christ through 3 fronts
The conference has succeeded in the first two fronts while so little has been achieved in the of health care services. It was thus unanimously decided by brethren to apply funds from the Operation Unity fund towards development and construction of a major referral hospital at Kinawataka-Kireka Hill under the pillar of the Central Uganda Conference. The Hospital Kireka Adventist Referral Hospital will cover approximately 6 acres of existing church land with a capacity of 500 beds and will comprise of the following services:

Project Organization and Progress Kireka Adventist Referral Hospital leadership is a specific multi-disciplinary sub committee of the Central Uganda Conference (CUC) Executive Committee. The committee was established to spear head the development, construction and oversee the running of the hospital. The project committee has within itself other functional sub Committees (Technical, Resource Mobilization, Medical, Business Development, Finance). Construction of the hospital is being implemented in phases starting with the Out Patients Department. Kireka Adventist hospital is being funded by the thousands of church members from withing the Central Uganda Conference zones under the umbrella 'Operation Unity' fund scheme. The drive to raise money for the construction is commonly know among Adventist brethren as 'Omutayiimbwa' (the steel bar) for Kireka Adventist Hospital. This Omutayiimbwa is a set annual target goal for churches to contribute money towards the construction of the hospital. Everyone starting from the CUC President, district pastors, elders and church members are involved. The money is collected in form of weekly offerings where faithful church members and visitors give their contributions during the offertory service. It is then officially sent to the conference through officers from the CUC office normally on a special colorful Sabbath set aside for the 'Omutayiimbwa' of Kireka Adventist Referral Hospital. |
